Encouraging Paying It Forward

Charity is one of the nicer rich/successful entrepreneur clichés, but for Ernie this giving back is something he takes very serious.

The Group’s values of Enthusiasm, Creativity, Quality and Relationship mean a lot to the people at AIG. As a team, each person takes it as their responsibility to ensure that the Group’s values are internalized in all endeavors.

ATCEN’s value of Relationship is especially close to heart. The people of AIG function as a close-knit family. There is a genuine concern about each other resulting in the forging of a special bond. Our care is not only within but extends to the community. The ATCEN International Group believes in doing what they can to give back to the society. With this, the

ATCEN ONE program was launched.

One Vision, One Partnership, One Gift

ATCEN ONE is a Vision - As a civic conscious corporate citizen of Malaysia; it is the Group’s VISION to give back to the community.

ATCEN ONE is a Partnership - This program involves two parties coming together as PARTNERS to contribute towards a single VISION.

ATCEN ONE is a Gift - Two partners agreeing in unison to present a GIFT to the less fortunate.

ATCEN One is a win for the Client, a win for AIG and ultimately a win for the Community.

In addition to ATCEN ONE, the group will set up the ATCEN Education Foundation in 2009, a scholarship fund for really deserving students. Upon graduation, these students will be guaranteed employment in AIG.

Whilst being bonded to AIG for a period of time, a portion of their salaries will go back into the fund which will be used to help other students such as themselves. This will instill in these young adults, a sense of giving back and a commitment to society to create further opportunities for others.

A vision for the future

With a vision and aspiration which is “To be the Largest Education & Brand Communications Group in Malaysia Developing the World”, Ernie is incredibly proud to be a homegrown Malaysian brand working towards helping make the world a better place.

Ernie Chen shares: “I know a secret which, if fully understood by our government, business, and community leaders, could have enormous positive implications for the future of our society. Simply put, the secret is this: Children born into poverty have special gifts that prepare them for business formation and wealth creation. They are mentally strong, resilient, and full of chutzpah.

“They are skeptical of hierarchies and the status quo. They are long-suffering in the face of adversity. They are comfortable with risk and uncertainty. They know how to deal with stress and conflict, making them ideal candidates for hardy and successful entrepreneurs.”

Ernie’s work is special because it is based on empowerment rather than handouts, giving people the tools to unlock their talent and take control of their lives.”

Batang Kali, Selangor

This is the last home we painted and all the sweat and hard work paid off.

Paint for Change is a mini restoration project to touch up a peeling facade, and also to affirm what a sense of accomplishment selfless giving of time and rescources can bring.

Two colors were used today - one being white and another called outLOUD orange sponsored by Nippon Paint Malaysia

This is the second last home we painted and looking back now, I can still remember when the idea to Paint for Change was first thought of. Many challenges were faced, but every time we are done painting a home, all the hard work and sweat (literally) feels very worth it.

As usual, team work paid off and this exterior façade of Rumah KIRTASH in Rawang took a little over four hours to complete. We are look forward to ending this project on a colorful note next month in Batang Kali.

The outing this time round at Rumah Keluarga Kami was quite an event in more ways than one. For starters, we had extra volunteers this time round and secondly, the painting was completed in what we feel is record time.

Having arrived at precisely 9.10am, the exterior of the home was painted by 11.10am and we were ready to leave after clean up by 12 noon for a well deserved lunch break. The paint for The Great Orange Charity Drive is sponsored by Nippon Paint Malaysia.

Nothing beats a good deed – and it’s even better when you have a CEO getting down with all the dirty work – literally. Recently, Ernie Chen and team made Rumah KIDS a little better courtesy of a very special colour called outLOUD Orange, sponsored by Nippon Paint Malaysia and the efforts of 22 enthusiastic people. What would have taken a full day, was completed in four hours and the results as you can see, are pretty good. This is a part of The Great Orange Charity Drive called Paint For Change where one children’s home will be painted on a monthly basis until December. The ATCEN team had the opportunity to add humility to their learnings as they travel the ATCEN journey.  The second charity visit of 2007 saw the participation of 15 team members making visits to two deserving homes, Rumah Amal Kanak-Kanak (or Praise Emmanuel Children's Home) and Persatuan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Ibu Tunggal Kampung Medan.

Praise Emmanuel Children's Home started in January 2003 with 2 children and today they provide shelter to 30 resident children comprising of children aged from 3 - 19 years.

The home committed to attempt and help abandoned, abused, homeless, neglected and orphaned children helping them overcome their troubled past to achieve meaningful and productive lives.  It can be seen that efforts are made to provide them with a balanced diet, proper clothing, and regular medical checkups for their physical well being and proper education as well as spiritual guidance.

Although checks and supermarket vouchers were presented to both the homes, what made the visit more memorable was the ATCEN team together with the children of the homes danced with choreography from ‘High School Musical’ which proved to be the highlight of all the activities.  The delight and expressions of joy of the residents and children from both homes was worth its weight in gold and it further emphasized how important the ATCEN ONE program is to the community and the company.

Ernie and ATCEN shared the love with Pondok Penyayang Raudhah

The children of Pondok Penyayang Raudhah in Gombak recently hosted a group of visitors from ATCEN Sdn Bhd. The visit by some 15 staff members of ATCEN, was in conjunction with the ATCEN One Charity Programme.

The visitors, included ATCEN chief executive officer Ernie Chen, mingled with the youngsters and participated in a joyous singing session to entertain them.

Ernie and Co. bring cheer to Persatuan Warga Tua dan Kanak-kanak Selangor

In the month of September 2006, Ernie and ATCEN made a second contribution to Persatuan Warga Tua dan Kanak-Kanak located in Kepong, Selangor. On the same trip, we also visited two other homes to contribute our time, effort and care.

Ernie and co. visited Phyllis Caring Home for Old Folks. They brought along cash vouchers from Giant worth RM2, 000. It was a pleasant surprise to see so many healthy senior folks at the home resting peacefully. The home houses 16 senior folks between the ages of 72 and 98. It was established to provide shelter for the elderly.

The third home that Ernie and his angels visited was Rumah Keluarga Kami located in Klang town. It is home to 44 children that are either homeless or parents that are not able to provide for them. Again, the team from ATCEN contributed another RM 2,000 for the home with cash vouchers from Giant.

A total of seven team members from the ATCEN team visited the children and the elderly in the trip.
